The Club's second pre-season friendly of the summer ended in an encouraging 2-2 draw at Trinity University, with both sides feeling the result was fair at the end of the game.
Medics lined up in a 4-3-3 welcoming back many first team players for their first game of the summer, as well as handing a debut to centre back Danny Clement. Whilst the lads started brightly and held good possession, they didn't pose too much threat on goal in the early stages.
Pool were a relatively well organised side and they took advantage of having too much space in the Medics half on the 30th minute, with nothing keeper George Grubb could do with a fine finish into the bottom corner, 0-1.
Medics were undeterred by the goal and had a strong last 15 minutes of the half, with Brady and Diaz both going close after a wave of Medics corners, and Tom Wright, on as a sub, posing a threat down the right wing. 0-1 HT.
Despite a positive half time team talk, the lads found themselves 0-2 down inside 2 minutes of the second half, the Medics defence caught napping resulting in a close range finish from the Pool striker.
Medics though, who had a history of coming from behind last season too, got back in the game just moments later, a mazy run from Alex Diaz ended with a shot parried back to him, and Diaz kindly obliged by slotting the ball into the bottom corner from close range, 1-2.
As the half drew on, Medics looked more and more dangerous, particularly on the break with Colm Hicks being the man setting off many of the attacks. On 60 minutes, Diaz linked up nicely with Hicks, who played the ball out wide to Wright. Wright's cross eventually broke to Nathan Brady who swivelled and beat the Pool keeper to draw Medics level.
There were half chances for both teams towards the end but neither side could find a winner and the full time whistle went with both teams happy with their performances.
The lads next game is an away trip to Beeston St. Anthony this coming Wednesday, where they will face a real challenge against great opposition.
