We'd like to congratulate everyone that picked up Awards at our end of season presentation evening held last month. A summary of the winners is below!

New & Young Player of the Year

This joint award goes to the player or players who are new to the club this season, either at their first year of university, or first year as a non-medic, and have performed to the highest quality. This year the award winners were Harry Blackburn and Ed Bridger.

Heath Ledger Clean Sheet Award

Whilst strikers and goal scorers get all the plaudits, sometimes it's the defensive work that can win championships, and we like to reward our defenders and keepers for their hard work. This year Chris Moore, our first team keeper won the clean sheet award for keeping the most clean sheets over the season.

Créme Caramel Trophy

Our tastiest award goes to the player who have really put in the effort and made the high % of possible appearences. This year that went to Third Team captain Kane Simmonds who played in 100% of the Third Team's game, captaining them to a 4th place finish in Division 2!

Golden Boot

The Golden Boot goes to our top goalscorer Adam Bolton, who has had a phenomenal first season at the Club. Despite missing 2 months with injury, Adam bagged comfortably the most goals this season, helping the first team to a fifth place finish and a Wakefield & District FA Cup win.

Student Team Player of the Year

This award goes to the player that has played the best for the student team and fittingly, this year's winner was captain Panashe Munaiwa, who was fantastic in the heart of midfield.

Third Team Player of the Year

The Third Team had a fantastic season, finishing 4th in a league of mainly first teams. at the heart of that team was the evergreen Niall Temple, who was voted Third Team POTY this season. Niall will not become Player Manager as the Threes look to build on last season in 2024/25.

Second Team Player of the Year

He was eventually, and deservedly moved up to the first team, but before that Louis Simmons put in some fantastic performances and scored some great goals for the Second Team, helping them on their way to a mid table finish after promotion.

First Team Player of the Year

It was a fantastic season for the First Team, securing their highest ever finish in the YAL Supreme League with 5th, and winning the Wakefield & District Cup. Many players were key to that journey but the players voted Dan Perkins as the man that stood out as the First Team POTY. Dan was outstanding at both centre back and centre midfield this season, both new positions for him at the club, having played right back in his first season.

Clubman Shield

Awarded to the player that puts the Club first and dedicates time and effort to make us so successful. This year's winner was Fergus Machin, who ran our fitness training sessions all year and also played every position on the pitch (apart from GK) for the second team without any complaints.

Hero's Award

Awarded to a player or team for a specific moment in the season that helps to define the Club's success. This year the winner was James Lally, for his Messi-esque run and equaliser in the Wakefield & District FA Cup Semi Final, a competition we then went on to win.

Rob Hamblett Trophy

Awarded in honour of our former player the late Rob Hamblett, this Trophy is awarded to a special individual, who, over countless years has epitomised the ethos of the Club and all it stands for. This year's award fittingly went to Chairman Steve Ledger, who founded the Club 50 years ago and has been working tirelessly towards its success ever since!
